 … Our Dream 

I had always talked with my dear friend Ammar about Salaneh Sar, and we spent a great deal of time asking questions and gathering information about it. The planning of this journey was taken on by dear Ammar, who was far more experienced than the rest of us.

Filled with excitement and anticipation, we set off from Kermanshah toward Rostam Abad. After arriving there, we purchased the supplies needed for several nights of camping and then continued on toward Salaneh Sar.

The road was entirely unpaved, yet it posed no real problem for any type of vehicle. Still, it’s important to note that due to seasonal rainfall, the condition of this road should be checked each year before making the trip.

Day One

On the first day, we arrived there around noon and began exploring the area. After about two hours, however, the entire landscape of Salaneh Sar was enveloped in thick fog. We had split into three groups and still hadn’t managed to find a suitable spot to set up our tents.

When the fog rolled in, we forgot about everything else, completely absorbed by the overwhelming beauty and softness of the scenery. We put on our ponchos and headed back into the heart of nature.

Ammar and Mohammad found a suitable place to spend the night on the terrace of one of the cabins. Due to the heavy rain and dense fog, staying anywhere else simply wasn’t possible. When the weather grew truly harsh, everyone else left Salaneh Sar—and we were left alone with this breathtaking meadow and wilderness.

The Nights of Salaneh Sar

The nights of Salaneh Sar are truly special—of course, provided that the sound of music from a few friends allows you to rest until four in the morning, you can reach an extraordinary sense of calm.

During the flowering season, the nighttime air in Salaneh Sar is cold, so be sure to bring proper clothing and suitable camping gear.

The next morning, the owner of the cabin had arrived before we even woke up. Without causing the slightest disturbance—despite the fact that we had taken over his cabin’s terrace and left no clear passage—he was quietly exploring the area and tidying up the surroundings of his cabin. Only after chatting with him for quite some time did we suddenly realize… he was actually the cabin owner!

We asked him about the old days of Salaneh Sar and the surrounding areas, and he spoke with remarkable charm and enthusiasm. In the end, he even invited us to stay longer. We thanked him sincerely for his kindness and then set off to continue our Salaneh Sar wandering and exploration.

The Best Time

Ammar and I kept waking up dozens of times throughout the night, checking the sky to see when it would begin to brighten—eager to head out into the meadows and the forest to witness the sea of clouds and the early-morning solitude.

It was around an hour before 5 a.m. when we finally set out. There wasn’t a single soul in Salaneh Sar. The two of us were completely alone, absorbed in photography and savoring the magic of this extraordinary place. No one arrived until close to seven in the morning, and we made the most of every moment of that rare, quiet time.

An Unforgettable Photograph…

When Ammar saw me completely absorbed in the little house atop the hill, he told me to walk toward it and forget about the camera. Truly, that cabin on the hill, floating above the clouds, had existed in my dreams long before this moment. Witnessing that scene brought me a deep, profound joy—as if I were walking through my lifelong dreams, finally living them.

During that time, dear Ammar captured these extraordinary photographs of me—the ones you see in the first slide—and quite unexpectedly, I fell deeply in love with those breathtaking moments he preserved.
